Personal Journey

As a retired medical oncologist and cancer survivor, I want to share my knowledge and insight, empowering patients and their families to better health.

Experience

My Professional Background

I have spent more than thirty years taking care of patients and their families. After graduating from medical school in Mumbai, India, I completed my Hematology and Oncology training in Boston, MA. I have worked most of my career in the Boston area hospitals, both in tertiary care and specialty cancer centers as well as community cancer centers, providing primary cancer care and second opinion consultations and supervising residents in inpatient cancer wards. For a few years I also had the opportunity to provide cancer care in the rural Midwestern states as a visiting consultant, so I have seen first hand how patients and families cope in different setting and different resources.

A sign displays the message 'HEALTHY LUNGS AT PLAY' in large green letters, with a no-smoking symbol and a smaller text indicating 'This is a tobacco-free zone.' It includes a cartoon illustration of children playing on a seesaw in a park setting.

Cooking Healthy Meals, Writing and Art

After my own cancer diagnosis and recovery, I discovered additional creative outlets. I started to play tennis, cook, write and paint more and I hope to share with you as I progress in that journey. I encourage you to pick up a craft which will help in your healthy living journey.
